ROWLEY — The Rowley Historical Society’s Annual Meeting & Pot Luck Supper will be held Friday, Sept. 27, at 6 p.m. This year it will be held at the 1677 Platts-Bradstreet House and Barn, 233 Main St. Doors will open at 6 for gathering and dinner is served at 6:30.
Attendees are asked to bring a favorite main dish, salad or side dish to share. The society will provide drinks and a variety of pie desserts to end the meal. Also, bring place setting and eating utensils in deference to the fragile septic system.
The meeting will take place in the barn immediately following the dinner, after which guest speaker Mary Ellen Smiley, curator of the Salem Museum in Salem, will speak. Her presentation is the “Courtship, Love & Marriage of the 17th Century.” This is an amusing and thought-provoking vision of the Puritans in Massachusetts at that time.
From those unable to cook that night, a $5 donation for dinner is requested. Everyone is welcome.
