Newburyport Daily News
---- — On this day in 1951, it was reported that the police would launch a crackdown on hoodlums and street roamers. The city marshal said, “This roaming the streets like a pack of yowling, wild dogs has to stop, and we’re going to see that it does. ... There are a number of wild hawks coming in from out of town to spend their evenings here ... and they’re going to learn to stay at home.”
