Free energy audits on tap for homeowners

NEWBURYPORT — The city of Newburyport is offering a program that gives residential owners a free energy-saving assessment.

The audits will be conducted by a team of consultants from Next Step Living, a Massachusetts residential energy-efficiency company that municipal officials say can help people save energy in their homes.

The program will host an outreach initiative with a sign-up booth on Friday in Market Square to coincide with Invitation Nights, a promotional event sponsored by the Greater Newburyport Chamber of Commerce intended to attract shoppers downtown.
