SALISBURY — A workshop for Salisbury Elementary School parents concerned about safeguarding their children from bullying is planned for Tuesday.
Sponsored by the PTA, the program begins at 6:30 p.m. at Salisbury Elementary School. It will bring together experts and school officials to discuss the problem of bullying, Salisbury PTA President Tamah French said.
"Parents will have a chance to learn about the Triton School District's new anti-bullying policy and get a few pointers so they know what the guidelines are," French said. "And if their children are bullied, they'll know what resources are available at the school for their children."
Presenters include school resource officer Mike Alder, Principal Jim Montanari, school social worker Ellen Lincoln and a representative from the school bus company.
"Kids are apt to be bullied on the bus because those who are doing the bullying think they aren't being watched," French said. "But our buses now have cameras in them, and they are being watched."
French said the workshop is a chance for parents to protect their children from a problem that has had devastating results in other communities. To ensure as many parents as possible can attend, free baby-sitting is available for children ages 3 and up.
