IMarc wins awards for its websites

The W3, which honors outstanding websites, web marketing, web video and mobile apps, has recognized iMarc with Silver W3 Awards for its work for EcoHealth Alliance and PetWatch Mobile. IMarc provided website strategy, design and programming for the corporate site as well as development for their mobile site.

The W3 Awards are sanctioned and judged by the International Academy of the Visual Arts. More than 3,000 entries created by interactive agencies, designers and creators worldwide were submitted for consideration.

Chamber mixer at Plum Island Coffee Roasters

The Greater Newburyport Chamber of Commerce & Industry is holding a member mixer on Wednesday, Nov. 16, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Plum Island Coffee Roasters, 54R Merrimac St., Newburyport. Marcus accepted in international networking group

Vivien Marcus, a six-year veteran of residential real estate sales in Greater Haverhill and southern New Hampshire, has been accepted as a full member of the Town and Country Chapter of BNI as its only residential real estate professional. BNI International is the largest business networking organization in the world and accepts only one person per professional specialty. All applicants are invited to apply and are screened by a membership committee that investigates their references. Marcus is a resident of Haverhill and works for the residential real estate brokerage firm Bean Group, which has 12 offices in New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine and Massachusetts, including one in Newburyport. Cronin receives Innovator in Marketing Award

Sharon Cronin, broker/owner of RE/MAX On the River in Newburyport, was recently awarded the North Shore Association of Realtors' 2011 Innovator in Marketing Award. She received the award at the association's annual membership meeting at Shalin Liu Performance Center in Rockport. The Innovator in Marketing Award recognizes a Realtor who encourages creativity and innovation in promotion and advertising. Cronin was recognized for her bold business marketing move by relocating her office to Newburyport's centrally located, downtown square. Recognizing the opportunity to greatly improve the visibility of her office, Cronin and her team made the leap and have transformed a historic brick building into a modern, "customer centric" venue. Established in 1998, RE/MAX on the River offers residential and commercial real estate services for buyers and sellers and has offices in Newburyport and Amesbury. Local panelist at eMarketing conference

Micah Donahue, principal and contact strategy director at Mechanica in Newburyport, spoke recently at the eMarketing Association's Power of eMarketing conference held in Providence, R.I. Donahue was a participant on the email marketing, social marketing best practices and case histories panels. He also participated in the Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn best strategies panel discussion at the conference.

The eMarketing Association is an association of emarketing professionals. Members include governments, companies, professionals and students involved with the emarketing arena.

Mechanica, an eight-year old Newburyport-based firm, employs 20 strategists, creative directors and brand directors pioneering a new approach to creating compelling, profitable brand experiences. Current and recent Mechanica clients include Saucony, Aeroshot Energy, Fallon Community Health Plan, Communispace, Kronos, PTC, Abt Associates, Symantec and the U.S. State Department.

Strickler joins First Financial Trust

Thomas L. Strickler of Newbury has joined First Financial Trust, N.A., a subsidiary of The Savings Bank, as vice president, development officer. First Financial Trust, headquartered in Newton with offices in Wakefield and Leominster, specializes in investment management, financial planning trust administration and corporate profit sharing plans. Strickler will be associated with the Wakefield office.

Before joining First Financial Trust, Strickler was an exclusive agent with Horace Mann, an insurance company offering financial services and insurance products to the nation's education community. Prior to Horace Mann, he was associated with ChipX of Newburyport as senior director for sales for eastern U.S. and Europe. In addition to his experience in new business development, Strickler has served as a trustee for the Institution for Savings based in Newburyport since 2005.
