Marathon swimmer to talk at chamber breakfast Sept. 9

NEWBURYPORT — The Greater Newburyport Chamber of Commerce and Industry will host its monthly breakfast speaker series on Friday, Sept. 9. Guest speaker will be Davis Lee, Newburyport resident, nuclear physicist and marathon swimmer. His presentation is titled "Going the 21 Miles ... Business Lessons from a Long-Distance Swimmer."

Davis successfully swam the English Channel last summer and just at the end of July successfully swam the Catalina Channel. Davis is planning the final swim of the Triple Crown of open-water swimming by swimming Manhattan Island marathon swim in the near future.

When successful, Davis will be one of 43 people in the world who have completed the Triple Crown of open-water swimming. Attend this breakfast to hear how endurance, "supreme stubbornness" and focus can help to grow, maintain or analyze a business.

The September Breakfast Speaker Series is being sponsored by Newburyport Five Cents Savings Bank.

The breakfast is scheduled from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at Mission Oak Grill, 26 Green St., Newburyport. A continental breakfast will be served to all who attend; reservations are required. Admission is $15 for chamber members and $25 for nonmembers. To reserve a seat, call the chamber at 978-462-6680.
