Collier was found shot several times in his vehicle in the area of Vassar and Main streets in Cambridge at about 10:30 p.m. Thursday.
He was pronounced dead at Massachusetts General Hospital.
The suspects later carjacked a vehicle and drove to Watertown, where one was killed in a shootout with police.
