Coffee hours at the senior center

The Amesbury Council on Aging will hold the following coffee hours:

Jan. 29, 9 a.m.: Come and meet Mayor Ken Gray. Enjoy a cup a coffee and some light breakfast items with the mayor. This is an informal session and a great opportunity to introduce yourself to Mayor Gray.

Feb. 3, 9 a.m.: Congressman Tierney will be at the Amesbury Council on Aging. All are welcome to join us as we meet with Congressman Tierney. Enjoy a cup of coffee and light refreshments. This is in an informal session that welcomes all to attend.

O’Connor Ives office hours

State Sen. Kathleen O’Connor Ives, D-Newburyport, will host office hours in Amesbury on Friday, Feb. 7, between 1 and 2 p.m.

Office hours will be held at the Amesbury Senior Center library. Appointments are not required. Contact her office at 617-722-1604 or by emailing Christopher.Power@masenate.gov. with questions.

Book of Troop 4 history on sale

A Troop 4 Boy Scout history book is for sale at Market Street Baptist Church, 37 Market St., Amesbury.

“Boy Scouts of America Troop 4, Amesbury MA of Market Street Baptist Church History 1957-2009” is a 240-page book by Dianne Dostie Cole. It offers a chronological history of Troop 4 compiled from church records, local newspaper articles as well as scout memorabilia ending with the 50th anniversary celebration. Color photos as well as black and white are included in the book.

It can be purchased at the church office for $30. Call 978-388-0937 or email msbcsec@verizon.net. All proceeds go to the troop.

Blankets 4 Kids seeks assistance

The Amesbury Council on Aging’s Blankets 4 Kids programs is seeking community members to aid in making new blankets for children who live in the upper Merrimack Valley. Blankets can be made at home and dropped off. Both fleece as well as yarn for those who prefer to knit or crotchet the blankets are available.
