WEST NEWBURY — The Pentucket High School National Honor Society is hoping for a little help from the community this weekend at its (No Foolin') Silent Auction Extravaganza.
Slated for Sunday — April Fools' Day — the event will also include live music featuring members of Pentucket's award-winning jazz combo, refreshments and "a ton of fun," promises Pentucket senior Kyla Sherwood.
Among the many items to be auctioned are private surfing and yoga lessons, a photo session, gift baskets, jewelry and "Life is Good" items. There will be 50/50 and gift card raffles.
Proceeds from the event go directly to charities selected by the NHS student membership — including Our Neighbors' Table, Toys for Tots and Pennies for Patients. Led by adviser Robin Foss, the Wowitan Chapter of the NHS strives to make a positive difference in the Pentucket communities. The goal is to help those in need get back on their feet through events such as canned food, toy and coat drives, a yearlong "Cell Phones for Soldiers" campaign and fundraisers like Sunday's, held from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Pentucket High School cafeteria.
