---- — SALISBURY - A 23-year-old Salisbury man was arrested last night after leading state and local police on a short chase during the evening commute last night.

Joshua A. Horvitz, address unknown, fled from State Trooper Timothy Harris when the officer attempted to pull him over at 6:45 p.m. as he headed north on I-495.

Harris began a pursuit of the driver and was joined by several officers from Amesbury and Salisbury.

Police followed Horvitz as he left the highway at Exit 54. Officers spotted his Ford Focus at a car dealership on Route 110 in Salisbury, but Horvitz had left the vehicle and tried to run away, according to police.

After a “short search” of the area, Horvitz was found and arrested shortly after 7 p.m., State Trooper Nicole Morrell said last night.

“He was missing for a short amount of time,” she said.

Horvitz was charged with negligent driving, failure to stop for police, speeding, and driving without a license.

In February, Horvitz was arrested for theft by Seabrook police.
