Land sale brings in almost $100,000


---- — NEWBURY — Selectmen have accepted the top bids submitted for five of 10 municipal parcels the town previously put up for sale. The winning bids should bring in a total of $96,849 for the Land Sale Account — money the town has targeted for capital improvements. A total of 12 bids were submitted by the April 17 deadline.

Top bids on the list were:

9 12th St., $11,250, Paul M Novak, Worcester

11 16th St., $28,000, Wallace and Patricia Ramsden, Windham, N.H.

32 14th St., $31,500, George and Cynthia White, Chittenden, Vt.

Hutchins Road (Map U3 Lot 23), $5,000, Alexander Tykulsky, Meadowview Nominee Trust, Newburyport

87 Middle Road, $21,099, Valerie McCleary, Newbury

Selectmen held off accepting the top bid for the Yellow School, 11 Lunt St., because they are awaiting a recommendation from a committee tasked with reviewing a proposed project for that property. At $125,000, the top bidders on the Yellow School house are Mr. and Mrs, Christopher J. Horan, Newburyport.

The following properties received no bids:

6 Blue Hill West Ave., 15 Hutchins Terrace, 71 Old Point Road, 119 Old Point Road.
