Three to be honored at Mayor's Breakfast

NEWBURYPORT — Mayor Donna Holaday will host the Yankee Clipper Council, Boy Scouts of America Mayor’s Breakfast to celebrate community and Scouting on Wednesday, May 22, from 7:30-9:30 a.m. at the Mission Oak Grill, 26 Green St. Newburyport Five Cents Savings Bank is serving as event sponsor.

The purpose of this gathering will be to honor three “Distinguished Citizens” from the Newburyport community who have made outstanding contributions to Newburyport through their community service and public spiritedness. This year’s honorees are:

Georia Koulouras, who has worked quietly behind the scenes to support wounded veterans and low-income individuals

Sheriff Frank G. Cousins Jr., whose youth programs include a Youth Leadership Academy and PROJECT TND “Toward No Drug Abuse”

Richard Eaton, who has been a significant supporter for youth sports programs as well as academic and cultural programs.

Eagle Scout speaker Leonard B. Wallace V of Troop 21 in Newburyport will be a featured speaker.

Proceeds from the event will support the Yankee Clipper Council’s programs for area youth, including a new science, technology and math day camp at Lone Tree Scout Reservation, and Urban Scouting outreach for underserved youth in neighboring cities.
