The Massachusetts Association of School Committees named Mayor Thatcher Kezer to the 2011 All-State School Committee.
The recognition honors school committee members who "made a significant contribution to their community or their school committee either through specific action or as an inspiration and role model for their peers and constituents."
The award will be presented on Nov. 10 at the joint conference of the MASC and the Massachusetts Association of School Superintendents in Hyannis.
Glenn Koocher, executive director of MASC, says of Kezer's recognition, "Mayor Kezer has consistently been among the state's most active mayors in support of public education, and has led a high-performing and high-functioning school committee throughout his tenure. In addition, he is recognized for his exemplary contributions to the community, state and nation through his ongoing military service."
"The accomplishments of our committee are reflective of the type of leadership Mayor Kezer brings to the chair position," Amesbury School Committee member Bonnie Schultz said.
