Offin Boardman became known for leading a shore-based boarding party to capture the British ship Friends, whose captain had mistaken Newburyport for Boston Harbor. Bounty from the capture still exists in public and private collections including that of the Historical Society of Old Newbury’s Cushing House Museum.
