Watchdog group to discuss crime prevention tips

SEABROOK – On Wednesday, Jan. 30, at 6 p.m., Seabrook Watchdogs and members of Seabrook Police Department will host an informal discussion with the public to discuss burglary prevention tips and how to do a thorough check over their homes to lessen the chances that they will be victims of crime. All are welcome to attend the meeting at the Seabrook Public Library.

“The New Year is a good time to go over your home and property to see what you can do to help fortify your home and personal security,” said Officer John Mounsey, Community Affairs Officer for Seabrook Police Department.

“There are so many easy preventive measures people can take,” Mounsey said, “with the most important one being to lock your doors, windows, sheds, garages, and your vehicles at all times. That step alone can greatly reduce your chance of becoming a victim of crime.”

Seabrook Watchdogs is the citizen-driven, town-wide neighborhood watch organization that has the full support of the Seabrook Police Department. The group has seen its numbers increase steadily since its inception in June, 2011, and reaches well over 1000 households in the region through a free electronic newsletter, Facebook page, and anonymous email list and phone chain. Participants can choose to remain anonymous, or if they prefer, they can participate publicly on the group’s Facebook page.
