Subdivision planned for High Street

NEWBURYPORT — Construction of a five-unit subdivision on High Street is scheduled to be discussed by the Planning Board at its meeting tonight beginning at 7.

Developer Jay Caswell has proposed building units in the area of 325 High St., a sector of the city that is close to the east entrance of the Bresnahan School.

The site is about 1.5 acres, and plans call for the demolishing of a residence at 325 High St., a split-foyer dwelling that does not appear to have historic value.

Owner is listed as Mark Wright, a project manager at the Provident Bank and a former Newburyport School Committee member. The structure was built in 1976, and has 1,809 square feet.

The residence is assessed at $499,100. Caswell purchased it in September for $550,000, according to municipal records.

The new development creates five new lots ranging in size from 10,047 to 16,002 square feet, according to the applicant.
