Lago snowboard to be raffled by library

SEABROOK — Seabrook native Scotty Lago lived his dream this winter when he earned a Bronze Medal at the biggest half-pipe snowboarding championship in the world, the Vancouver Olympics, and now, he's about to help Seabrook Public Library with its dreams as well.

As his fans and friends turned out to cheer their champion when Lago returned home from Vancouver, Lago expressed his delight with the response he'd received from the community, promising to do his part to help local children. And Lago is keeping his promises.

Earlier this summer, Lago took time to speak with local children at Seabrook Public Library. Now, he's donated an autographed snowboard he designed himself to raise money for library programs.

Lago's snowboard — sporting his mantra "Live the Dream" — is the grand prize in a fundraising raffle to benefit the Seabrook Public Library.

Second prize will be a gift certificate to Amesbury Sports Park, where Lago did a lot of his training as a boy. The gift certificate is for two hours of tubing at the park and a ride, as well.

Third prize is a $25 gift certificate at the Golf and Ski Warehouse in Greenland, N.H., where young, would-be Olympians can purchase other equipment to help them pursue their dreams.

To ensure that everyone has a chance to take part in the raffle, the library has kept raffle tickets at $1 each. Tickets are on sale at the Seabrook Public Library, which is located on Liberty Lane, behind the Seabrook police station. The raffle drawing will be on Oct. 27.

According to Seabrook Public Library director Ann Robinson, the library is very proud to have Lago on its side and working on behalf of local children.
