NEWBURYPORT — The sixth annual Newburyport Literary Festival "The Freedom Narrative: Celebrating the Life and Work of William Lloyd Garrison," will take place on April 29 to 30 in various venues throughout downtown Newburyport.
Each year, more than 100 volunteers are involved in planning and implementing the festival. Festival organizers are looking for people to help out before, during and after the event to do things like:
Hang banners and booth signs
Distribute posters
Give directions, hand out festival guides, count attendees
Deliver books to events
Deliver flowers and messages and run errands
Assist in author autograph areas
Assist with children's events
Help with cleanup
Film at the nine different venues
The committee is also looking for venue assistants at each of the nine venues to assist the venue captain. Responsibilities include setting up the venue, greeting people and assisting with seating.
Register to be a festival volunteer by visiting the festival website, http://newburyportliteraryfestival.org, and clicking on the "Get Involved" link.
The NLF is made possible through the generosity of the founding sponsors, the Institution for Savings and the Newburyport Five Cents Savings Bank. Additional support is provided by the Provident Bank, the Massachusetts Cultural Councils and the Newburyport, Newbury, West Newbury, Amesbury and Merrimac Cultural Councils and the Newburyport Rotary Club.
