Salisbury Police solve Atlantic Avenue break-in

SALISBURY — Police say they have solved the case of an intruder who entered an Atlantic Avenue home and was surprised when the homeowner returned unexpectedly.

William Taylor, no age given, 50 Atlantic Ave., Salisbury, has been charged with breaking into the home, police said.

That break-in occurred Jan. 11 at 11 a.m. When the woman entered her home, Taylor fled and the woman called police.

Police combed the beach, stationing officers as lookouts, searched empty buildings in the area and asked residents if they had seen the suspect, but he managed to escape.

They also distributed a sketch of the man's face that captured his likeness well enough to convince Taylor to shave his beard and remove an earring, said police Chief David L'Esperance.

Taylor was arrested Thursday night on a charge of violating a restraining order, and with the help of Swampscott Police, Salisbury was able to link Taylor to the Atlantic Avenue break-in, L'Esperance said.
