Wally the Green Monster at Newbury library April 22

NEWBURY — Red Sox mascot Wally the Green Monster will be appearing at the Newbury Town Library during Triton School vacation week on Tuesday, April 22 at 10 a.m. as the children's room celebrates baseball season.

Bring your camera and have your picture taken with Wally. Other activities that morning will include face painting and a baseball frame craft.

All activities are free. Wally will draw the winners of the library raffle. Proceeds from the raffle will go to programming sponsored by the Friends of the Newbury Town Library.

Raffle tickets go on sale April 1. Donations of raffle items include two different gift baskets from the Main Street Mini Mart, a skunk puppet from the Tucker family, books from the Johnson family and Joan Latauskas will donate a custom mother's bracelet.

Library trustee Lois Smith has donated a poster from the movie "Quiz Show" autographed by Robert Redford, Rob Morrow, Ralph Fiennes and John Turturo. Jean O'Malley of the library staff has donated a basketball autographed by Jo Jo White, a former Boston Celtics player, and Rachel Penner has donated a $40 gift certificate to Barnes and Noble. The Collins family has added a Wally stuffed animal and the book "Hello Wally" by Jerry Remy. Another item in the raffle is an opportunity for your child to have a personal Story Hour with children's librarian Laurie Collins and 10 of your child's friends.
