Heard around town: Shearer aims to be top dog groomer

Next weekend, the world will get to watch Newton, N.H., resident Sarah Eudenbach in action as she competes against 11 other contestants to become the world's top dog groomer on Animal Planet's new reality show, "Groomer Has It."

The show challenges top groomers from across the country to turn mutts into masterpieces and show dogs into show stoppers. In each episode, contestants also are quizzed on their knowledge of different dog breeds — and how to treat them. The show is hosted and judged by Jai Rodriguez of "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy," as well as a special guest judge in most episodes.

Eudenbach, 27, is billed by the show as the "flirty, sassy and flighty" contestant.

"Yeah, that would be me," she said with a giggle. "I'm really outgoing and a bit sassy, I don't know that I'm doing it until someone points it out."

Eudenbach has won several awards for her shearing skills and works as a groomer in Manchester, N.H.
