Newburyport Choral Society scholarship available

The Newburyport Choral Society is offering a $1,000 scholarship, The Betty Gillette Newburyport Choral Society Scholarship, in honor of charter member Betty Gillette, lifelong teacher and student of music. Class of 1988 holding reunion

Newburyport High School's Class of 1988 will hold their 20-year reunion Friday, Aug. 1, from 7:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., at the Elks Lodge, Low Street. All classmates are sought for the invitations. Parks Commission seeks new members

The Newburyport Parks Commission seeks to fill two vacancies left by resigning members. Commissioners are responsible for oversight and management of city parks, parks budget, formulating strategies for parks maintenance, and capital improvements and community event coordination. Appointed by the mayor's office, they serve five years. Previous experience not needed, but interest in parks and recreation is recommended. Walk For Life on May 10

The Pregnancy Care Center will hold its 16th annual Walk For Life on Saturday, May 10, at three locations: Hope Community, 11 Hale St., Newburyport; St. John the Baptist, 110 Lincoln Ave., Haverhill; and Free Christian Church, 31 Elm St., Andover, from 9 to 11 a.m. (rain or shine). The walk route is two miles. The PCC's three centers — Haverhill, Amesbury and Newburyport — served more than 1,500 individuals in 2007. Free T-shirts to walkers reaching $150 in pledges.
