Drug dealer gets two years in jail

NEWBURYPORT — A Salisbury woman will spend two years in jail after convictions on multiple counts for possession and distribution of illegal drugs.

Crissy M. Fitzgerald, 29, of 55 Atlantic Ave., Apt. 2, in Salisbury was convicted of two counts of possession of class B drugs, possession with intent to distribute class B drugs, one count of possession of class D drugs, two counts of possession of class E drugs, conspiracy to violate drug laws and possession of a counterfeit note.

Judge Peter Doyle ruled on Fitzgerald's cases Wednesday at Newburyport District Court, issuing sentences ranging from six months in the house of correction to two years for the charge of possession to distribute. The sentences will be served concurrently. Doyle also recommended Fitzgerald participate in the Women in Transition program.

Fitzgerald's arrest came on April 4 with Derek Michaud, 25, of 34 Rabbit Road, after an investigation by the Salisbury police drug unit, according to Salisbury police Chief David L'Esperance. Yesterday, L'Esperance said he was pleased with the result of the case, commending the court for its quick response.

At the time of her arrest, police found a large quantity of drugs, L'Esperance said, including cocaine, suboxone, Adderall, Endocet, Xanax, as well as counterfeit money.
