Bike accident sends PI man to hospital

A Plum Island man is in fair condition after being struck by a car while bicycling on the Plum Island Turnpike yesterday morning.

Parke Fisler, 46, of 26 Dartmouth Way, was hit by a car while both vehicles were travelling west on the Turnpike, according to police reports. The accident happened near the airport on the Newburyport side of the Turnpike at about 9:50 a.m., police said.

Fisler was taken to Anna Jaques Hospital with a head injury and later flown to Beth Israel Hospital in Newton. Police are still investigating. No charges have been filed.
