School Committee to get comfortable

The Newburyport School Committee will be having a special meeting this Friday night, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the home of Vice Chair Gordon Bechtel, 26 Marlboro Street, Newburyport. Bechtel says the meeting will be an informal "working session" to discuss the city's goals as they relate to the District's Strategic Planning.

"Everyone's coming with their goals for the year," said Bechtel. "We've been doing a ton of work on strategic planning, so that's generated a bunch of goals."

The aim of the meeting is to "whittle" the list down to a manageable one, according to Bechtel. The meeting is a public one, but there will be no opportunity for public comment.
