Police nab probation violator after chase

SEABROOK — Police arrested a local man after chasing him through the marsh on the Salisbury border, according to reports.

After receiving reports that Eric Lafountain, 38, was wanted on a probation violation out of Strafford County, officers attempted to pull Lafountain's truck over on Route 286. Lafountain pulled into Route 286 Auto Sales and ran away, leading officers on a chase over fences and through yards, according to Officer John Mounsey.

Police called in state troopers to secure the area, Mounsey said, and Seabrook Detective Scott Mendes eventually found Lafountain crawling along the marsh and took him into custody just as the state's K-9 unit arrived on scene. Police also arrested Lafountain's passenger, Lisa Cassen, 36, on a warrant out of Hampton District Court.

Cassen was held on $500 cash bail, and Lafountain was held without bail. They will be arraigned today in Hampton District Court.
