Sherry Temple hired as senior loan officer

BOSTON — Eastern Bank, a full-service commercial bank headquartered in Boston, announced that Sherry Temple has joined the bank as a senior loan officer in its Mortgage Banking Department.

Temple will work out of Eastern's Newburyport office. Eastern offers a variety of mortgages, including first-time homebuyers, construction, reverse mortgages, and jumbo mortgages (single-family mortgages for more than $417,000). Temple boasts 25 years of experience in residential lending with a focus in first-time homebuyer programs. She has experience servicing loans throughout New England, with a direct focus in the Amesbury, Haverhill, Merrimac, Newbury, Newburyport, Salisbury and West Newbury markets.

Temple is an affiliate member of the Greater Newburyport Board of Realtors.

Three NECC employees honored

HAVERHILL — Three Northern Essex Community College employees — Julie Carey of Amesbury; Linda Desjardins of Hampton, N.H.; and Betsy Pardo of Boxford — recently received the college's Employee Performance Recognition Award. The award was started by NECC President David Hartleb, as a way to recognize the many and varied contributions of the college's nearly 700 employees. Employees are selected each quarter based on recommendations from supervisors and co-workers. Recipients receive a $100 certificate to the restaurant or mall of their choice.

New talent to enhance award-winning firm

AMESBURY — McDougall & Duval Advertising, the award-winning advertising, marketing and public relations firm in Amesbury is pleased to announce the addition of two new members to its creative staff.

Mia Thurlow has been hired as senior art director for the agency. Previously a graphic designer at Be Fine Food Skincare and Avid Technology, Thurlow brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in graphic design, illustration and creative campaign development to McDougall & Duval. A graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Arts in medical illustration, Thurlow currently resides in West Newbury.

Nicole Bless has been hired as a junior art director. Previously, Bless was the marketing director at Söfft Shoe Co., where she managed and developed all aspects of the company's advertising and branding. John P. McCarthy given Realtor award

ROWLEY — John P. McCarthy of Rowley Realty has been awarded the prestigious Certified Residential Specialist designation by the Council of Residential Specialists, the largest not-for-profit affiliate of the National Association Of Realtors. Realtors who receive the CRS designation have completed advanced courses and have demonstrated professional expertise in the field of residential real estate. Fewer than 4 percent of Realtors nationwide have earned the credential.

Glover elected to Board of Directors

NEWBURYPORT — Pennies for Poverty: 2 Cents 4 Change, recently announced the addition of Dudley Glover to its Board of Directors. Previously, Glover owned and operated a graphics design and writing business for 25 years. Pennies for Poverty: 2 Cents 4 Change is a Newburyport charity aimed at helping with basic needs, such as home economics, family budgeting, basic savings and nutrition.

Amelia's Salon partners with Eufora

MERRIMAC — Stylists from Amelia's Salon recently attended the Eufora Global Connection conference in Newport Beach, Calif. Elite professionals in the hair industry from across the U.S. and Canada participated in workshops to learn the latest techniques in hair cutting, styling and better client services. At the conference, salon staff met with the founder and CEO of Eufora International, Don Bewley.

NAA receives outreach program donation

NEWBURYPORT — The Newburyport Five Cents Savings Charitable Foundation recently granted matching gifts of $7,250 to the Newburyport Art Association for its ArtLink and OpArt community outreach art education programs. ArtLink is the NAA's ongoing art enrichment program in local schools promoting the visual arts. OpArt is a NAA and Newburyport Opportunity Works collaboration providing individuals with disabilities hands on art instruction using different media.
