Newburyport resident helps fund new cancer treatment

A generous donation from a former longtime Exeter resident will help fund a new treatment at Exeter Hospital's Center for Cancer Care for women diagnosed with early stage breast cancer.

Cynthia Gompers, and her husband, David, now residents of Newburyport, have several family members who have battled cancer and heart disease; as a result, they are ardent supporters and educators in preventative health care.

Cynthia said that she is proud to contribute to such a forward thinking and progressive hospital that is committed to patient care and wellness education, and that is truly making a difference.

Her donation, which helped kick off Exeter Hospital's annual appeal, will help fund the new electronic brachytherapy treatment at the Center for Cancer Care. Electronic brachytherapy is a cutting-edge treatment that enables early breast cancer patients the option of a five-day course of treatment for partial breast irradiation rather than a seven-week course of radiation.

For the past 20 years, Cynthia and David have been dedicated to prevention of degenerative diseases. The Gompers travel nationally and internationally as national marketing directors representing Juice Plus+.
