Amelia Earhart theater production takes stage June 15

GEORGETOWN — The Delvena Theatre Company will present the play, "Where Ya Been, Amelia?" on Monday, June 15, 2 p.m., at the Trestle Way Community Building, 23 Trestle Way. Light refreshments will be served.

Hosted by the Georgetown Housing Authority and the Council on Aging, the theater production is supported, in part, by a grant from the Georgetown Cultural Council, a local agency that is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.

Amelia Earhart disappeared over the Pacific Ocean while attempting to make a circumnavigational flight of the globe in 1937, and fascination with her life continues today with many theories as to her disappearance. This educational production, which has been incorporated into a 1940s radio show — complete with commercials — offers several scenarios as to what may have happened to Amelia, as well as a dramatic overview of her life. At the show's conclusion, audience members are encouraged to enter into discussion regarding Amelia Earhart's life and mysterious disappearance. The show, written by Fran Baron and directed by Joseph Zamparelli Jr., will feature Lynne Moulton and Justine Curley in multiple roles.

Moulton has performed several roles for Delvena Theatre, including her Independent Reviewers of New England-nominated Martha in "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" and Sissy in "Piece of My Heart." She received her acting training at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art under the direction of Sir Robert Palmer and at Trinity Rep Conservatory.

Curley has played many roles for Delvena Theatre Company including those of Blanche Dubois and Dorothea in "A Perfect Ten," Mary Jo in "A Piece of My Heart," Mary Warren in "The Crucible" and Bobbie Michele in "Last of the Red Hot Lovers." She worked for several years as an actress at the Salem Witch Dungeon Museum and is a graduate of Simmons College.

Zamparelli is a professional actor, director and producer. A graduate of Boston College, he went on to the professional training program at Circle in the Square Theater School in New York City. In addition to commercial film and television work, he is producing/artistic director of BostonAlive.

The Delvena Theatre Company was founded in 1992 and has performed at various venues, most often at the Boston Center for the Arts.
