Give workers a sign of appreciation: lobster rolls

For employers wishing to recognize their dedicated staff on the upcoming Employee Appreciation Day, Main Street Congregational Church is offering to bring lobster roll lunch packages to workers in honor of their hard work.

The "lunch for the gang" service will be offered Friday, June 26, and includes a lobster roll, chips and bottled water for the cost of $12. Bagged lunches will be brought to a place of business between 11:30-12:30. A minimum purchase of five lobster rolls is requested, and employers are asked to submit their orders by Friday, June 19. Our Neighbors' Table will be offering a Snap Clinic on Tuesday, June 30 to help clients set up an account to receive monetary assistance through the program previously known as the Food Stamp Program.

Administrator Rosemary Werner advises those interested to call the office to make an appointment for a time slot, and there will be someone on hand to help through the process of documentation and online sign-up.

"They will need to call the office (978-388-1907) and an appointment will be made," said Werner. "We will let them know what kind of paperwork is needed and the application will then be done online."

Werner said the project is being undertaken in partnership with Project Bread, and following this first Snap Clinic Our Neighbors' Table plans to continue offering the sign-up service to interested families. Appointments will begin on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. Guests attending the clinic will have access and help signing up on one of the on-site computers.

Wick'd Kool Gallery will present a Shamana Drum Circle Wednesday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Upper Millyard Amphitheatre. Phil Boynton will be on hand to act as drum circle facilitator. The Valley Players invite guests to enjoy an evening of Cabaret and Modern Dance with the Tricycle Dance Troupe in Cirque Des Femmes on Saturday, June 20 at 8 p.m. at Amesbury High School.

Tickets are $25 per person and can be purchased at the Amesbury Playhouse Dinner Theater, 194 Main St., or the Amesbury Chamber of Commerce & Industrial Foundation. Proceeds will benefit the nonprofit theater troupe, the Valley Players, and a portion of the proceeds will go to breast cancer research. For more information, call 978-388-9444.

Amesbury's 11th Annual Block Party is scheduled to kick off the town's Amesbury Days celebration next Wednesday, June 24 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. An evening full of events sponsored by the Amesbury Chamber of Commerce & Industrial Foundation will begin at the Gazebo at Huntington Square, and will include music, entertainment and the best food Amesbury has to offer. Event admission is free. Proceeds from ticket sales for food, beverages and rides will benefit the Alliance Charitable Foundation, Amesbury Beautification Program and other Chamber projects. If you've ever thought to take up the art of knitting, Crafters Quarters at 36 Main St. is offering a "Learn to Knit for Charity" knitting circle to benefit the American Cancer Society every Sunday from 4-6 p.m. through the month of August. Every Sunday evening experienced crafters will be on hand to teach how to make the shawls, scarves, cowls and hats that will be handed out to survivors and families associated with the Relay for Life event. Bring needles and yarn and help create something for this heartwarming cause. A limited amount of donated supplies will be available. For more information call 978-388-8000.
