Strawberry Festival today in Groveland

Merrimacport United Methodist Church will hold a Strawberry Festival today at Carey Park, River Road, Merrimac. Food tent will include lobster roll plate, chicken salad plate, strawberry shortcake, beverages, hot dogs and popcorn. There will also be a book table, white elephant table, face painting, music.
Summer church services begin
The first service of the summer season at the First Congregational Society-Unitarian of Hampton Falls will be held at its historic 1838 Greek Revival church on Route 88 near Applecrest Farm Orchards tomorrow at 10:45 a.m., and thereafter every Sunday at the same time until a week after Labor Day. The Rev. Henry Stonie, affiliate minister, who preached regularly there for many years up until his retirement, will preside as he usually does the first Sunday of the season. All denominations are welcome. Light refreshments are served following the service.
Services end for the summer
Tomorrow's 10:30 service at The First Religious Society, Unitarian Universalist, Pleasant Street, Newburyport, will be the last until Sept. 13.
Next Sunday, summer services will begin at the Hampton Falls Unitarian Universalist Church in Hampton Falls, N.H. The Rev. Deborah Knowlton of the First Congregational Church UCC, Hampton, N.H., will deliver the sermon. Services begin at 10:45 a.m. The church is located on Route 88, near Applecrest Farms. Insight Meditation Retreat tomorrow
Matthew Daniell will lead a Classic Insight Meditation Retreat tomorrow at the Insight Meditation Center, 443 Middle St., West Newbury. This retreat follows the teachings of the Buddha on cultivating mindfulness of the body, breath, heart and mind. Beginners and experienced meditators are welcome to attend for the full day or a half day. Those coming for the whole day should bring a bag lunch. Daniell, the guiding teacher at the Insight Meditation Center, has been practicing Buddhist meditation and yoga for over 20 years.
Theology on Tap for young adults
Holy Family Parish, Amesbury, will offer Theology on Tap, a speaker series based on Catholic theology for adults in their 20s, 30s and 40s. Issues affecting young adults and topics of faith will highlight the Theology on Tap series and feature a different speaker at each session. The first session will take place on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Mad River Grille. Father Marc Bishop from Our Lady of Good Counsel in Methuen will speak. Three other sessions are planned for July 28, Aug. 25 and Sept. 22. Historical representation for Amesbury Days
The Amesbury Council of Churches will present a historical representation of a "parlor meeting" with Sarah and Angelina Grimke on June 28 at 5 p.m. at Rocky Hill Meeting House, 4 Portsmouth Road, Amesbury. Daughters of Southern slaveholders, the Gimke sisters toured Massachusetts in 1837 telling of the horrors of slavery. Their speaking out challenged fears of abolition and swayed the anti-slavery debate, planting seeds for the Suffragist Movement. This is the powerful story of two women who found courage to act on their convictions and will educate and inspire all to do the same.

Strawberry and lobster fest June 26
The Main Street Congregational Church, member of the United Church of Christ, will host its annual Strawberry Festival on Friday, June 26, between 4 and 7:30 p.m. on the front lawn at 145 Main Street. Live music begins at 3:30 p.m., and there will be kids games and a raffle, in addition to a menu of chowder, lobster rolls, strawberry shortcake, hot dogs, hamburgers, veggie burgers, drinks and chips. Take-out lunch service will be available and delivered between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to businesses interested in purchasing a lobster roll lunch for their employees. Monthly bean supper in Newbury
The First Parish Church of Newbury on High Road holds a monthly bean supper on the third Saturday of every month.
