Intro to Meditation events

The Insight Meditation Center of Newburyport is offering for beginning meditators a drop-in class on Tuesday, May 28, at 7 p.m. The event is designed for anyone interested in Insight Meditation (Vipassana). Vipassana is a simple practice that steadies the mind by grounding attention in the present moment; it originated in the Buddhist tradition more than 2,500 years ago. Gospel concert at Union June 1

A Gift of Grace: Gospel Concert, with traditional and original, modern gospel music, spanning all generations, will be presented June 1 at 7 p.m. at Union Church, 350 Main St., Amesbury. It will feature three choirs: The Bullock Brothers. The Sons and The Emmanuel Choir. The concert will benefit the capital needs of the Union Church. Suggested donation: $20. Seating is limited. Union Church flea market June 8

An old-fashioned flea market will be held Saturday, June 8, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Union Congregational Church, 350 Main St., Point Shore, Amesbury, across from Alliance Park. Spaces available for $10 with your own table, $15 with church table. Donations welcome, Lunch will be available on site. VBS at Market Street Baptist

The Market Street Baptist Church, 37 Market St., Amesbury, is hosting a Vacation Bible School for both girls and boys ages 5 to 9 years old, Monday to Friday, July 22-26, from 9 a.m. to noon. The VBS program “Follow God” includes games in the gym, crafts, bible study and new songs to learn. A snack of water and fruit will be provided each day.
