Programs at Mass Audubon's Joppa Flats

Mass Audubon’s Joppa Flats Education Center, located at One Plum Island Turnpike in Newburyport, is a natural history education and visitor center that is open to the public Tuesday through Sunday and Monday holidays, 8:30 to 4 p.m.

SATURDAY MORNING BIRDING

Weekly trip with experienced leaders in a search for avian activity in the Newburyport and Plum Island area. For beginners and birders of all skill levels.

Today, 9 to 11:30 a.m.

Meet at Joppa Flats Education Center, One Plum Island Turnpike, Newburyport.

Fee: Adults $10; children ages 8 and older, $7. Registration is not required.

THE WONDER AND THE WOW: PLUM ISLAND RIVER KAYAK PADDLE

Why should kids have all the fun? Enjoy the sights and sounds of nature that are uniquely available from the water, with Joppa Flats School and Youth Education Coordinator Lisa Hutchings.

Fee: $60. Price breaks for double kayaks and personal kayak use. Registration is required.

KAYAK FAMILY PADDLE ON THE PARKER RIVER

For families with children ages 7 and older. Go for a kayaking excursion in the calm waters around Plum Island to secluded areas where we can witness wildlife without disturbing their activities. Co-sponsored by Plum Island Kayak.
