Antiques Appraisal Day Oct. 5

Antiques Appraisal Day sponsored by The Sons and Daughters of The First Settlers of Newbury to be held on Saturday, Oct. 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will be held at Protection No. 1 Fire Department, Firemen’s Memorial Hall, 3 Morgan Ave. The appraiser will be John McInnis from Amesbury. Up to three items may be appraised at the cost of $10 each or 3 for $25. All proceeds will benefit the Newbury Fire Department.

Tierney holds office hours Sept. 19

U.S. Rep. John Tierney will hold office hours at Newbury Town Hall on Thursday, Sept. 19, from 10 to 11 a.m. All are invited to come speak with the congressman.

Information night for substitutes at Triton

Triton High School will hold an information session for anyone interested in being a substitute for the 2013-2014 school year on Monday, Aug. 26 at 10 a.m. in the high school conference room. If you are not able to attend or have any questions contact Kim Wright at 978-462-8171.

Meals on Wheels drivers needed

The Newbury Council on Aging is seeking Meals on Wheels drivers for local seniors. The meals are provided Monday through Friday and volunteers are needed to donate their time and use of their automobiles to drop the meals off.

Training and mileage reimbursement is provided. Minimum time commitment is two hours per week. Anyone interested should contact the Council on Aging at 978-462-8114.

Host families sought

Families are needed to choose host foreign exchange students attending Triton Regional High School this fall. The students have their own spending money, insurance, they follow family rules, help with chores and attend activities with the family and school.

Students will be visiting from Thailand, Finland, Germany, China, Denmark, Brazil and Spain. Contact Ginger Smith at 801-475-5243 or emailgrandmaginger@comcast.net.

Help Biking Grammy make her goal

Biking Grammy is seeking donations for her endeavor in 2013 to ride 2013 miles and raise $2,013 for the Newbury Council on Aging. Donations are payable to Margaret Jerome and presented personally or mailed to the Newbury Council on Aging, Hanover Street, Newbury 01951. No donation is too small.
