This Day in History

On this day in 1954, The Daily News reported that a silvery sphere was seen hovering above State Street by Russell Worthley and then “followed him home to Rowley.” Some people were certain that it was a flying saucer. Others believed it seemed stationary, or said it whirled about changing shape rapidly. Two hours later, it was reported that 4 comb-like vapor trails had been left by the “saucer.”
