Screening Room receives $12,000 matching grant

NEWBURYPORT — Owners of the Screening Room reported that they have received a $12,000 anonymous matching gift.

Andrew Mungo and Nancy Langsam are attempting to raise $60,000 to buy digital projection tools for their 99-seat venue so they can stay in business.

They raised about $35,000 in the first week.

Yesterday, they said they received a matching grant for $12,000 that would take them close to their goal if all matching pledges are collected.

Mungo said, “The conditions of the grant are that the campaign must raise $12,000 beyond the $35,000 already raised by the Oct. 14 campaign conclusion.

“The second condition of the grant is that it must remain wholly anonymous or the offer will be withdrawn.”
