It's not over until God says it's over

In the Spirit
The Rev. Rusty Davis

---- — In today’s world there are an endless number of people who feel like giving up due to the various situations and trials facing their lives. In fact, my guess is most, if not all, of you who have taken the time to read this article have at one time or another faced what you have felt was a hopeless situation in your life. Some of you might even be dealing with such a dilemma at this very moment. You feel you’re in a hopeless situation, because of what your doctor said or because of what your circumstances are saying.

When this happens it’s important to remember that a hopeless situation does not mean that God has abandoned you. Just because things don’t work out exactly how you planned them does not mean that God is not at work in your life. No matter what your situation is saying, I can tell you from my own personal experience that God is at work in your life at that very moment.

What we need to understand is that sometimes only God knows how things are going to work out. Only God knows how you are going to be healed. It’s only God that knows how you are going to make it through this test. We face many challenging situations in this life in which human solutions will not work. Despite the multitude of options the world offers us, often the only thing that will work will come from the hand of God.

You may be in a situation that looks hopeless, it may look like the end is near and it’s time to give up, it may look as if you’ve lost. But don’t throw in the towel because it doesn’t matter what it may look like, the final outcome will come when God says it’s over. Other people may count you out, your own family and your best friends may try to convince you that you’ve lost, the chance for overcoming the odds that are against you may look impossible, but it’s not over until God says it’s over!

Our proof is in the Bible! Jarius thought it was over — his daughter was dead — but God hadn’t said it was over. The man at the pool of Bethesda thought it was over because he couldn’t make it into the water, but God didn’t say it was over. Everyone thought it was over for Daniel when he was thrown into the lion’s den, but God didn’t say it was. Nebuchadnezzar thought it would be over for Shedrach, Meshach and Abednego, but God said it wasn’t over. Job’s wife thought it was over and encouraged her husband to curse God and die, but the Lord didn’t say it was over. Believe me; it ain’t over until God says it’s over! I don’t know what the future holds, but I state with complete certainty that I know who holds my future!

Never give up when the world’s got you down. Keep fighting. Keep praying because it ain’t over. Keep pressing. Keep progressing. Keep moving because it ain’t over. Keep reading. Keep interceding. Keep believing. Keep trusting. Keep trying. Keep working at it because it ain’t over. Keep living. Keep giving. Keep going because it ain’t over!

When you don’t know what to do or which way to turn, please remember God has the master plan. It ain’t over until God says it’s over! I don’t care what it looks like. It ain’t over until God says it’s over! God, and God alone has the final say! It ain’t over!
