Medflight called after I-95 rollover

NEWBURYPORT — Police are looking for the driver of a tractor-trailer that caused a rollover accident on I-95 at the Whittier Bridge Sunday night and then fled the scene.

State Trooper George Katsarakes said the driver of the tractor-trailer was driving southbound at 7 p.m. and hit a Nissan Sentra when changing lanes, causing that car to hit a Ford F-150 truck and rollover.

Both vehicles landed in the median, and the two passengers in the Nissan were ejected, Katsarakes said. The passengers, a male and a female, were transported to Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport, where Medflight was called for a transport to Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, the trooper said.

Katsarakes said police are looking for the driver of the tractor-trailer who fled the scene and was last seen heading southbound. The tractor-trailer has front-end damage and a maroon cab.
