Nature Kids! is a new, fun class geared towards 4 to 6 year-olds. Classes about nature and common backyard animals and plants are featured in this bi-monthly program. Each class is different and children do not need to attend previous classes in order to participate. The class is limited to 15 children. A parent or guardian must be present throughout the one hour session. Meet at the refuge visitor center and headquarters. Activities will be held in the classroom. Registration is required.
The Photographic Society of Parker River National Wildlife Refuge
Saturday, Nov. 9, at 1:30 p.m.
This nature and wildlife photography club is open to anyone with an interest in nature, wildlife, and photography. Meetings occur in the refuge visitor center auditorium in Newburyport. The winners of the Parker River National Wildlife nature and wildlife photography contest will be announced. The agenda also includes a presentation about iPhonography, or taking pictures with a smart phone, and a screening of the monthly Show & Share slide show, which features members’ own images of nature, set to music.
The Photographic Society welcomes one and all – from beginners to professionals. The club meets every month, generally on the second Saturday afternoon. Registration is not required to attend. Call 978-465-5753 for more information.
Mitigation, Adaptation, and Changing Our Conversations about Our Changing World
Monday, Nov. 18, 7 to 8:30 p.m.
This free evening program will be presented in the refuge’s visitor center auditorium by John Anderson, director of education at the New England Aquarium in Boston. This presentation is one in a series of sea level rise related programs that is being sponsored this fall by Storm Surge – The Merrimack Valley Coastal Adaptation Work Group. Registration is not required.
