Chowderfest a big success

The "people's choice" award for the best chowder at the Newburyport Chowderfest Saturday was the Ipswich Clambake restaurant of Ipswich. Close to 600 people attended the event, which was a fundraiser for the Custom House Maritime Museum. Ten local restaurants offered samples of their chowder. Second in the balloting for best chowder was the Mission Oak Grill, and in third place was Michael's Harborside.
