The fourth annual Mike Donohoe 5K Run/Walk for Melanoma will be held on Sunday, Oct. 3, from the Perley School. The run will be open to both individual runners and school clubs and teams. Teams or clubs will be able to compete in the 5K run for $250 toward their organization. The 5K will start at noon.

A new athletic field was proposed for Georgetown Middle/High School. The new field will be made of synthetic turf, and expansions to the sports field will include new bleachers with an 800-person capacity, lights and regulation-sized football, women's lacrosse and baseball fields. The School Committee and Athletic Association will collaborate to decide on how the new field should be paid for and constructed.

Student safety addressed at Canterbury Crossing and Andover Hill for students required to walk to school or who cannot ride the bus. The committee earmarked $14,000 from the stimulus plan to hire three new crossing guards for the FY 2010-11 school year.

$11,769 to create new computer lab and purchase new furniture in the high school.

Institute a $20 band fee in order to create new jazz band program at Penn Brook.

DISCUSSED

The creation of a comprehensive budget for high school maintenance.

The selection process for which classrooms/teachers will receive the new Smart Boards will be based upon a training program that teachers must complete, and updated equipment must be installed in classrooms capable of using the new technology.
