Police: NY man made threat at Logan airport

BOSTON (AP) — A New York state man has been charged with making a threat at Boston’s Logan Airport after allegedly remarking that he had a pressure cooker in his backpack.

Jeremy Sawyer of Cicero, N.Y., pleaded not guilty Wednesday to making a bomb or hijack threat. He was released on his own recognizance and ordered to stay away from Logan. His attorney declined to comment yesterday.

A state police report said Sawyer, an enlisted Air Force member, went to a Logan information booth Tuesday morning to ask about a USO lounge. He allegedly became angry when told it wasn’t open. Police said he referred to the Boston Marathon bombings, pointed to his backpack and asked, “What am I supposed to do with this pressure cooker?” He was arrested about half an hour later. No pressure cooker was found.
