AMESBURY — The Amesbury Public Library will host a presentation by Mass Audubon naturalist Bill Gette entitled "In the Wake of Ernest Shackleton — The Wildlife of the Antarctic Ocean," on Monday, April 6, 10:30 a.m., at the library.

During his one-hour presentation, Gette, director of the Joppa Flats Education Center in Newburyport, will discuss his recent expedition to the Antarctic Ocean. On his expedition, he visited South Georgia Island and Elephant Island, two places that played important roles in the heroic expedition of Shackleton and the crew of the Endurance.

Gette will show slides of these two remote, forbidding, yet beautiful islands, and the thousands of birds and mammals that live and breed there.

No registration is required for this program, and coffee and pastries will be served. For more information about this program, call Assistant Library Director Patty DiTullio at 978-388-8148 ext. 612 or e-mail at pditullio@mvlc.org.
