Registration forms have been sent home for Pine Grove's Summer Kids Camp, which runs Monday through Friday from June 29 to Aug. 14. The on-site enrichment program will offer themed activities built around such topics as oceans, dinosaurs, the circus, summertime and space. Sports and physical fitness activities will be included as part of the daily activities.

Students can attend for full days or half-days but with a minimum of two days per week. Carla Collins (ccollins@trsd.net) is the program coordinator.

The Triton Special Education Advisory Council will present an entertaining workshop for all parents called "Shut Up About ... Your Perfect Kid!" on Wednesday, April 8, at 7 p.m. in the Newbury Elementary School auditorium.

Two sisters, Gina Gallagher and Patricia Konjoian, both of whom have special needs children, wrote the book by the same title and will discuss how to celebrate the joy of your children's imperfections.

The focus of the presentation is on explaining how loving the reality of your child, instead of what society expects, will transform your life and your child's.

Pine Grove School's Hidden Art Talent Show items will be on display in the school's Link Art Gallery until spring vacation. Items include drawings, paintings and other handmade works of art done by Pine Grove students, such as Anthony Bettencourt, Jaynee Colberg and Hannah Clark, and adults and alumni as well, including Assistant Principal Margot Lacey, fifth-grade teacher John Collyer and parent Wendy Roach.

The Hidden Arts program is coordinated by Pine Grove's art teacher Jen Dubis.

Preschool costs for students in the Triton district will increase for the 2009-2010 school year. For two half-days, the cost will be $1,550 a year; three half-days will be $2,100 and four half-days will cost $2,500 annually. MCAS continue this week at Pine Grove. Grades 4 and 6 will take the reading comprehension exams on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, while the third- and fifth-graders will be working on math benchmark tests. Makeup exams will be done during the week as well.

The School Committee will meet at 7 p.m. on April 8 at the high school.

Thursday, April 9, will be an early dismissal day to allow for professional development. Students will be dismissed at 11:40 a.m. There will be no afternoon kindergarten that day.
