East Kingston, NH — Shirley Ann (Morsky) Hammershoy, age 72, of East Kingston, New Hampshire, died peacefully Monday evening, March 3, 2014, at the Rockingham County Nursing Home in Brentwood, NH. She was the wife of the late Eric D. Hammershoy, who passed away February 23, 2006.
Born in Springfield, Massachusetts, August 2, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Constantine and Alfreda (Pelcher) Morsky and was a graduate of Springfield Classical High School, Class of 1959. She went on to graduate from Westfield State Teachers College. This lead to a lifelong career as a dedicated teacher who always went the extra mile to help any student in need. She was well loved and respected, not only by her students and the faculty at the schools she worked, but also by her family and friends. Her loving, caring ways touched everyone who knew her.
Shirley was quite adventurous and loved traveling. She traveled throughout Asia in her 20s, raised her family in Germany and spent her summer vacations driving across Europe and the U.S. with her husband and children. She also enjoyed her beloved pets, music, playing guitar and painting.
She is survived by her daughter, Holly Hammershoy of Dracut and her son, Eric Hammershoy and wife, Amy, of East Kingston, NH; her grandson, who held the key to her heart, Mason Royer; her sister, Florence DelNegro and husband, Michael, of Agawam; her sister-in-law, Marie Ash of Minnesota; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. She will be missed by them all.
ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours at the Highland Chapel of Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, Amesbury, will be Monday, March 10, 2014, from 4 to 6 p.m., immediately followed by A Time of Reflection of Her Life at 6 p.m. The family requests that flowers kindly be omitted; instead, donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
