William P. McGloin, 83

Amesbury — William was called home to heaven on Wednesday to join his parents, James and Myrtle (Livingstone) McGloin, his brother Francis, his sister, Christine (McGloin) Sherwood, and his nephew Kurt McGloin.

He was born in Amesbury and was a lifelong parishioner of Holy Family Parish, formerly St. Joseph's Parish, where he also attended eight years of school. He was a graduate of Amesbury High School and went on to serve his country in the U.S. Air Force. When he returned home, he worked at the Lowell Sun Newspaper in Lowell for many years until his retirement. In his retirement, he enjoyed going out to eat and made many friends at many local eateries. A confirmed bachelor all his life, he leaves behind many friends who will miss his great sense of humor.

He leaves behind his brother, George McGloin of Amesbury; his niece and caretaker, Terry (McGloin) Beecroft and her husband Chris of Fremont, N.H.; his nephews, Jim McGloin of Haverhill, Rick Sherwood of Westborough, and Steven Sherwood and his wife Carolyn of St. Agnes, Maine. He also leaves behind his sister-in-law, Rose McGloin of Amesbury, and his brother-in-law, Bill Sherwood of Westborough.

ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 13 at 10 a.m. in the Holy Family Parish Church, 2 School St. in Amesbury. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the E.V. Jutras & Sons Funeral Home 118 Friend St., Amesbury are Monday, Nov. 12, from 5-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to the Holy Family Parish, 9 Sparhawk St. Amesbury, MA. 01913

She was also the dear sister of the late Lois Tilton and is survived by six grandchildren. Doris was a longtime realtor serving Amesbury, Salisbury and Newburyport.
