James Michael Kennedy Sr.

Newburyport, MA — James Michael Kennedy Sr. passed peacefully at his home on Saturday, June 1, after a seven-year battle with cancer.

Buddy, as he was called by his loved ones, was born March 12, 1942, to Joseph and Mary Helen, and was the brother of and John Kennedy and the late Joseph Kennedy.

He was a graduate of Immaculate Conception School, Class of 1960. Buddy served two terms as a Newburyport City Councilman. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Methuen, and a long-term member of The Train Collectors Association.

Buddy is survived by his wife of 50 years, Judith (Judy); his son, James Kennedy Jr. and his wife, Kimberly; his daughter, Jessica Kennedy LeBlanc and her husband, Robert; his four grandchildren, Alyssa Fallon Lundergan, Sean Fallon, Eve LeBlanc, and Michael LeBlanc; and his great-granddaughter, Ella Lundergan. He is also mourned by his nieces, Kimberly Flowers, Kathleen Griffin, and the late Kolleen Hendricks; his nephew, Joseph Kennedy Jr.; and his dear friends, Michael and Pamela Willwerth; and many more dear relations and friends.

ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours will be held Thursday, June 6, 2013, from 4 to 8 p.m., at Elliot Woodworth and Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green Street, Newburyport. A funeral Mass will follow on Friday at 10 a.m., at the Immaculate Conception Church, Green Street, Newburyport, with interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to The Newburyport Education Foundation, P. O. Box 1002, Newburyport, MA 01950.
