Patricia Anne 'Pat' (Forward) Roy

Rowley, MA — Patricia Anne “Pat” (Forward) Roy, 58, died unexpectedly at her home in Rowley, on Saturday morning, January 11, 2014. She was the beloved wife of Robert “Rob” Roy, to whom she had been married 36 years.

One of three daughters of the late Thomas H. Forward, she is survived by her mother, Norma J. (Forward) Gorman. Pat was born in Lynn on June 2, 1955, and was a graduate of Saugus High School, after which she attended Bunker Hill Community College.

Her priorities in life were simple - family always was first. As a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, loving sister and aunt, she was always the most gracious hostess, fantastic cook, confidante, in other words, she was the “go to person,” who could take care of just about anything. She loved being involved with her children’s activities when they were going through school and she was their best friend as well. Her home was filled with love, and she made everyone feel welcomed. When her only grandchild came along, Ava Roy, she stole Pat’s heart completely. She never imagined that life could get any better, but little Ava filled her heart with a joy that was beyond compare. In addition to her love of family and children, Pat loved quilting and had made numerous beautiful quilts, enjoyed the rewards of gardening, and the joy of cooking.

Besides her husband, Rob of Rowley, and her mother, Norma Gorman and husband, Bill, of Sarasota, Fla., Pat leaves behind her son, Zack Roy and his fiancée, Kimberly Arsenault of Byfield; her daughter Sandy Roy of Rowley; her only granddaughter and special angel, Ava; two sisters, Roberta Waldrip and husband, Michael, of Tewksbury, and Deborah Young and husband, Robbie, of Texas; along with several nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.

The shock of her sudden passing has left them all brokenhearted, but they will never forget her kindness, her compassion and her unconditional love.

ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours at Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green St., Newburyport, will be on Wednesday, January 15, from 4 to 8 p.m. A private memorial service will held at a later date for the family.
