Newburyport, MA — Joan Gage (Baumgartner) Blaisdell, 83, of Newburyport, died peacefully on Tuesday afternoon, January 7, 2014, at Port Healthcare in Newburyport, with her loving family by her side. She was the devoted wife of the late Carl L. Blaisdell, who died in 2003.
One of three children of the late Charles P. and Maude E. (Atwood) Baumgartner, she was born in Newburyport on January 3, 1931, and was a graduate of Newburyport High School.
For many years, she worked as an assembler at Western Electric in North Andover.
She is survived by three sons and a daughter, William C. Blaisdell and wife, Patricia, of Henderson, Nev., Ricky A. Blaisdell and wife, Margaret, of Malden, Mass., Sandra A. Courtemanche and husband, Bruce, of South Berwick, Maine, and Brian D. Blaisdell of Newburyport; seven grandchildren, Kristen Mudd of Hollywood, Md., Christopher Blaisdell of Henderson, Nev., Jill and Chris Sullivan of Wilmington, Mass., Ryan and Kevin Courtemanche of South Berwick, Bryan James Bergeron of Seabrook, N.H., and Sean Blaisdell of Savanah, Ga.; two great-granddaughters, Claire and Ella; and many special nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister and a brother, Lillian (Spencer) Houghton Root and Charles P. Baumgartner Jr.
ARRANGEMENTS: By request of the family, there will be no visiting hours, and interment in Belleville Cemetery, Newburyport, will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Fidelis Hospice, 25 Railroad Square, Suite 501, Haverhill, MA 01832.
