Merrimac, MA — Stephen Francis Roche, age 76, of Merrimac, died early Wednesday morning, November 27, 2013, at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House House in Haverhill. He was the husband of Ellen J. (Donovan) Roche.
Born in Medford, December 31, 1936, he was the son of the late Stephen F. and Sophie J. (Richards) Roche and was a graduate of Medford Vocational Technical School, Class of 1956. He proudly served with the United States Navy from February 28, 1956 until his honorable discharge on January 27, 1960.
For years he had worked at Wang Laboratories in Lowell as a Quality Control Manager.
Among his passions in life were cooking, and crafts, including glass blowing and woodworking. He had a clever mind and was always out to have fun playing tricks on his family and friends. His greatest passion, however, was spending time with family, especially all of his grandkids.
In addition to his devoted wife, Ellen of Merrimac, MA, he leaves behind a son, Michael Roche and wife, Heather; a daughter, Michelle Perkins and husband, Al, all of Merrimac; his eight grandchildren, Nicholas, Corey, Haley and Tyler Kamberalis, Connor and Michael Perkins, Noah and Riley Roche; a brother, Richard Roche; a sister, Marie Messenger (deceased), and a number of nieces and nephews. He was always thankful and considered himself truly blessed to have such an incredibly wonderful, loving family.
ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours at the Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 36 West Main Street, Merrimac, will be Tuesday, December 3, 2013, from 4 to 7 p.m. A memorial service for family and friends will be held Wednesday at the funeral home at 11 a.m. followed by interment in Locust Grove Cemetery, Merrimac. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Merrimack Valley Hospice, 360 Merrimack Street, Lawrence, MA 01843.
